ΣL Cycle Summary
An incredible, almost linear rise has typified the latest iteration of the up-leg in the S&P 500 (and stock markets in general) since the last trough of this component, reported on at the end of October. Barring a similar high amplitude retrace of price, the low in late October / early November is likely a trough of higher magnitude, specifically the 20 week nominal wave in Hurst nomenclature. That high amplitude retrace is not completely out of the question though. The VIX, which exhibits a superb phase inversion of this component is forming a trough. As for the S&P 500, the timing of the next trough is early - mid January at the current wavelength. Frequency modulation is minimal for this coherent example of periodic price action in a financial market.
